Police in Torquay are appealing for witnesses after a shop assistant was assaulted.
The incident occurred at round 8.45pm on Monday 15th June at the Farm Foods store on Hele Road, Torquay.
A female assistant attempted to detain a young shoplifter in the car park outside the store, after he had attempted to steal a large pack containing 32 cans of coke.
On challenging the youth, he hit her on the back of the head with the cans before dropping them and running off in the direction of Litchfield Road.
The shop assistant although shook up was not seriously injured.
The suspect is described as being a white boy, approximately 14 years of age , 6’ tall, very slim, with had short bond ‘spikey’ hair. He was wearing a dark coloured shirt and jeans.
Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity at the time or from anyone who may recognise the suspect from the description.
