Police have appealed for witnesses following a two vehicle collision last week.
Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a blue Peugeot car and a black and red motorcycle near Haldon Hill on Thursday, 19 September.
The collision happened on the eastbound carriageway of the A380.
The motorcycle rider, a 65-year-old from Newton Abbot was seriously injured and taken to hospital in Exeter.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
A local man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and other offences. He has been released on police bail.
