Police appeal to identify victim of Newton Abbot robbery

Police have appealed to identify and speak to the victim of a robbery in Newton Abbot which happened earlier this week.

Police received reports that a hand bag had been stolen from a woman on Wolborough Sreet at around 5.20pm. The person who had taken the bag was detained by a member of the public.

Investigating officers are now appealing to identify and speak to the victim who left the scene after collecting her bag after if was thrown to the floor. She is described as a white female, around 50-years-old and of slim build. She had shoulder length auburn hair and was carrying a large rectangular bag with a shoulder strap.

A 17-year-old boy was reported arrested at the scene and taken into police custody. He was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/022220/19.
