Police were called to a primary school in Paignton earlier today, 18th May after being called by a concerned member of the public.
Police attended the scene after a member of the public reported seeing a person with a knife acting suspiciously outside Roselands primary school in Paignton.
People in the area report that there was a large police presence with searches being carried out.
Roselands Primary school released this statement on their website: “Just before lunch a member of the public was seen acting suspiciously around the climbing frame located outside the school playground. A local dog walker informed us that he had a knife so as a precaution the children remained inside the building while the police were called.
“The man then left the area before the police arrived. Under advice from the police; the children remained in classes until later in the afternoon when they felt the risk had passed.
“Even though the risk has passed we are organising a slightly different end of day routine. All children can be collected via the main playground gate. Clubs are running as normal but obviously feel free to collect your children when you like.Thank you for your support.”
It is currently unknown if the suspect has been found.
