“They have been observing dog walkers and apparently asking them if they would sell their dog. This has caused concern amongst some people who were worried that the males would try and steal their dog.

“This is a rare occurrence and we do not want to cause unnecessary worry, but would suggest vigillance amongst dog owners and to report any suspicious activity to us on 101 or call 999 in an emergency. Officers are carrying out local enquiries to locate the registered keeper of the vehicle,”
