Popular South West festival cancelled

Popular festival Boardmasters 2019 announced late last night that the festival due to start today has been cancelled following consultation with Devon and Cornwall police, independent safety advisers, emergency services and the Met Office due to severe weather, specifically high winds.

This come as a shock to the thousands of festival goers, some having already traveled 100’s of miles from around the country with hopes of attending the 4 day festival starting today Wednesday 7th August in Newquay.

The announcement was made on Boardmasters official Facebook page and many festival goers have taken to the page to express their thoughts on the news. Many of which are upset with having to take time off work and travel expenses.

Organisers have advised festival ticket holders to follow the Boardmasters social media pages and website for further details on refunds.

Due to forecasted severe weather conditions, specifically high winds, Boardmasters 2019 has been cancelled.

Following full consultation with all of the relevant authorities including independent safety advisors, Devon and Cornwall Police, emergency services and the Met Office, a final decision was made this evening.

The safety of you, the fans and attendees, as well as performers and crew comes first, and the potential risk is too severe for the event to go ahead at this time.

Refund advice will be shared as soon as possible – please follow Boardmasters’ social media for official updates.

We sincerely regret the disappointment to fans, and apologise for any disruption caused to local businesses, performers and crew who were looking forward to Boardmasters as much as we were.”

Wu-Tang Clan, Florence and the Machine and Foals were due to headline the festival on Saturday and Sunday night.

In a Instagram post story posted by Foals said they were ‘gutted’ by the news.

Other acts that were due to play include Dizzee Rascal, Jorja Smith, Plan B, Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight, Giggs, DJ EZ, IDLES, Micheal Franti & Spearhead, Lewis Capaldi, Pete Murray and Lady Leshurr.
