A major investment of £1.2million has been pumped into Kingsbridge’s Quayside Leisure Centre over the last 12 months, with an extended and refurbished gym, two renovated studios, a brand-new soft play area, new café and other facilities all recently installed. Already proving a hit with existing members, the local community is being invited to snap up a free day pass to try out the new facilities for themselves.
The investment project, which has breathed new life into Kingsbridge’s much-loved leisure centre, was led by Fusion Lifestyle, the UK’s leading sports and leisure charity. The project has seen the gym area overhauled, expanded and brought bang up-to-date, with the arrival of 25 pieces of cardio kit, free weights and apparatus.
The centre has also been equipped two refurbished studios, including a brand new INTENCITY HIIT zone – the only one of its kind in the area – offering energetic new HIIT classes with the MyZone technology system. Spinning will also be on offer for the first time at Quayside, with the introduction of 20 indoor cycling bikes.
As a result of the works, Quayside Leisure Centre now boasts a wide variety of ways for the whole community to get active, no matter what age. For the very young, a new soft play area has been introduced to keep little ones busy. Other new additions also include a stylish new café – serving up a range of snacks, drinks and meals – as well as new changing rooms and a revamped reception.
The work at Quayside forms part of a multi-million-pound investment to improve six Devon leisure centres, undertaken by Fusion Lifestyle, South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council. As part of a three year-programme, other locations benefitting from investment include; Ivybridge Leisure Centre, Parklands Leisure Centre (Okehampton), Meadowlands (Tavistock), Totnes Pavilion and Dartmouth Leisure Centre.
