Independent high street businesses are gearing up for the Bay’s first Love your High Street Torbay week, taking place from the 11 July 2016.
Love your High Street week is a brand new campaign which encourages local people to shop more frequently in independent shops around the Bay and helps spread the message about why spending locally is so important.
Richard Haddock, Executive Lead for Business, said: “Local support of this campaign is essential to help make it a success. I strongly encourage local people to spend in Torbay using many of the fantastic, independent retailers. This in return will provide a much needed boost to the local economy which will aid our ongoing efforts for high street regeneration in Torbay.”
The campaign is being delivered by Shop up the High Street, the high street regeneration project from the TDA and funded by the Coastal Communities Fund.
Liz Edwards, Business Advisor heading up the project, said: “The public have really got behind the campaign so far and it’s coming up fast! To support the project follow our facebook and twitter and most importantly, make the switch and spend more money in local, independent shops.”
“Shopping locally not only puts money back into our local economy, but helps create jobs, lower carbon emissions, builds communities and fills empty retail units.”
The Love your High Street week is taking place from 11 – 17 July across Torbay and is free of charge to all independent retailers wishing to get involved.
Marketing packs and resources are available for free for high street businesses to help celebrate the campaign.
