South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council have appointed PayByPhone, a global leader in mobile parking payments, as the exclusive cashless parking payment provider from 12 January 2025. Residents and visitors will enjoy the simplicity of cashless parking in almost 4,300 parking spaces across 53 off-street locations across the South Hams and West Devon Car Parks.
Cllr Victor Abbott, Executive Member for Community Services and Operations, South Hams District Council, says, “We’re looking forward to working with our new cashless parking provider, PayByPhone. As a Council, we are always looking at ways that we can improve
our efficiencies and services for our residents. If you haven’t already, then please download the PayByPhone app now so it’s handy on your phone when you need it to pay for parking.”
Cllr Adam Bridgewater, Hub Member for Neighbourhood Services, West Devon Borough Council, says, “We have such wonderful towns here in West Devon and we want to make sure both our residents and visitors can park as easily and quickly as possible. We look forward
to working with PayByPhone and encourage anyone who prefers to use cashless parking, to download the app now.
Registration is easy and quick – it takes about 30 seconds.
Adam Dolphin, Managing Director UK for PayByPhone, says, “We are thrilled to launch PayByPhone in the South Hams and West Devon, helping to simplify the parking experience for residents and visitors to this wonderful area. Drivers using the PayByPhone app can
opt in to receive a reminder text before their parking session expires, so they can either get back to their vehicles in good time to avoid a penalty notice, or, should their visit last longer than anticipated, they can extend their parking session, in accordance
with the car parks terms and conditions, from anywhere at any time through the PayByPhone app or wearable device. So, whether it’s a spot of shopping in the local towns, or a wild walk in the Devon Countryside or coastal areas, PayByPhone has it covered.”
Local businesses can also benefit from the introduction of PayByPhone thanks to PayByPhone Business. This convenient one-stop-shop solution allows businesses to consolidate their parking expenses into one place for greater oversight. It also alleviates drivers
of the financial burden of paying for parking out of their own pocket and waiting to be reimbursed.
Motorists using PayByPhone have access to the app’s Maps and the Nearby Parking features. The Maps feature allows them to locate parking before they leave for their destination and to pin their vehicle location onto the map once they have parked. The Nearby
Parking feature instantly provides drivers with the closest PayByPhone parking location number. And the app is available in 11 languages, making it inclusive for Devon’s approximately 123.9 million day-visitors, per year.
Drivers will also find that the PayByPhone app is about more than parking; it offers them many of their vehicle needs in one convenient app. The Fuel finder helps users find the cheapest petrol and diesel stations and EV Charge Locator and EV Payments enable
users to find EV charging stations and pay for the session as well. The app’s MOT bookings system not only reminds the user of when their MOT is due but also makes managing the task easier.
Dolphin adds, “We are confident PayByPhone can make a positive difference to the parking experience in South Hams and West Devon. And by offering the additional features geared towards general vehicle management in one simple full-service app, we help users
to get on with what matters most to them without having to worry about parking.”
