Police called to early morning incident in St Marychurch

Police appeal for witnesses following Torquay nightclub assault 

Police were called to St Margaret’s Road this this morning (12th January) to reports of a disturbance at a property.

Armed units attended the incident in St Marychurch, Torquay, where a man was making threats and is alleged to have threatened police with a sword.

Three fire engines from Torquay and Paignton attended the incident after a fire was started deliberately within the building. The small fire which involved cushions was out on the arrival of the fire service.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and is in police custody.
