South Devon employers, who are actively recruiting, will be able to exhibit at the South Devon Jobs Fair in Torquay on Friday 17 March.
Delivered by TDA, Torbay Council and in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, this free event will take place in Torquay’s Town Hall Assembly Rooms from 9.30am to 1pm, providing anyone looking for a job the opportunity to meet with over 60 local employers.
Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “Following the success of last year’s Jobs Fairs in March and October, we are delighted to announce there will be another fair, where we welcome all people looking for a job and businesses that are searching for candidates. This event can match job vacancies with skills and provide an excellent platform for candidates to find a new role.”
In October, over 620 candidates met with 60employers from across Torbay and South Devon, who shared seasonal and permanent employment opportunities with their company.
Rebecca Davies, Senior Economic Development Officer at TDA, said: “There will be live vacancies on offer, from local employers across all sectors including hospitality, care, construction and retail. We welcome anyone looking for a job to attend and talk with employers about the permanent and temporary vacancies on offer.
“This event provides a great opportunity to build on our strong links with employers across the region to actively increase employment opportunities. There is a real commitment from our business community and service providers to pull together and make this event a success and help people secure employment. We’re working hard with local employers and we’re keen to hear from other employers in Torbay and South Devon who would like to take part.”
TDA will also be showcasing the range of business support it provides to local employers to help them develop, grow and take on more employees. Jobcentre Plus Work Coaches will be available throughout the day to support and help people with CV’s. Job applications will be available in Torquay Jobcentre.
Karen Palin, Employer Engagement Manager at Jobcentre Plus, said: “Following the success of the October event, the Jobs Fair provides an excellent opportunity for candidates to meet and talk to employers who have vacancies. I think that the Jobs Fair and the support in the Jobcentre will help people fulfil ambitions and find their desired job.”
The organisers are keen for employers to promote any active vacancies they may have at the time of the event, and in the run up to Easter and summer to help seasonal recruitment.
Rebecca Davies continued: “We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the employers and candidates who attended the October South Devon Jobs Fair. With a good mix of candidates, who were suitable to progress to interview, the employers are looking forward to attending again.”
