New residents at Bloor Homes’ Filham Chase development in Ivybridge will be harnessing solar power via solar panels ready-fitted to the new homes, future-proofing the property for the longer term and boosting the energy efficiency savings that come with buying a brand-new home.
Sara Parker, Sales Director for the region, said: “We are pleased to include solar panels on our new homes at Ivybridge, where residents can start benefitting from the provision of renewable energy from the moment they move in.
“Figures released by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) in February 2023* show that buyers could now save up to £3,100 annually on their energy bills by choosing a newbuild home compared to £2,600 last year – and that’s based on new homes without solar panels, so the savings here for new homeowners will be even greater.”
Bloor Homes’ Exeter region has confirmed that 87% of the new homes of the development will feature 335Wp Viridian Mono Black PV Modules, while all the new homes will have external sockets.
Viridian manufactures ‘sleek, low-profile roof integrated solar panels that replace the tiles or slates on the roof’ so they have kerb appeal too.
Sara adds: “And that’s not all. We have made provision for electric car charging in our new homes – some will have electric car charging points already installed. By including this as an option, our aim is for the solar panels to provide people with a sustainable energy source to help power both their homes and cars, and help reduce their carbon footprint overall. It really is a win-win situation.”
