TDA has appointed Business Advisor Liz Edwards and Marketing Executive Gemma Eastwood to drive the Pop Up the High Street project in Torbay.
The project is aimed at new businesses or those without a physical presence on the high street that would like the chance to experience what it takes to become a successful trader.
The Coastal Communities Funded project, which is being delivered by TDA, has two elements. It will support the development of the high street through a Pop Up Shop and provide business support direct to existing retailers across Torbay.
Torbay’s Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “It is good news to see further investment in Torbay to develop the high streets and support local businesses. Securing funding to support projects like this is crucial to the regeneration of our towns and provides a boost to the local economy. This project enables Torbay businesses a highly cost effective retail experience with free business support.”
The shop, which is located on Union Street in Torquay, will have a launch event on 29 August. The team are working hard on the branding of the shop and how the shop is going to look and feel to enhance the retailer’s and customer’s experience.
Liz Edwards, TDA Business Advisor, said: “Having previously delivered business support for both new and existing business in Torbay, this is a very exciting project for me to be working on. Local businesses can benefit from our team’s expertise to help get them ready for retail and in a position where they can grow their business.
“For anyone wishing to apply to use the shop, previous experience of running a shop is not needed. You may already be operating online from home and using social media to sell, and the pop up shop would be the perfect opportunity to get your business seen on the high street.”
Please visit www.popupthehighstreet.org where you can find application guidance and apply online. For more information about the project email liz.edwards@tedcltd.com or call 07771 974565.
Businesses will be notified within two weeks if their application has been successful and the TDA will arrange for a meeting with one of their business advisors to discuss next steps
