The fire service were called to reports of a thatched roof fire in Blatchcombe, Paignton today, 13th May.
Fire crews from Paignton, Totnes, Torquay, Brixham, Newton Abbot, Buckfastleigh, Torquay and an incident command unit from Totnes were initially mobilised along with specialist officers at around 2pm.
Further crews were later mobilised to the fire in Higher Blagdon Lane.
The three storey property was severely damaged by the fire. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reported that 50% of the roof has been damaged by fire and 50% of the remainder of the property has been damaged by water, heat and smoke.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
