One of the most iconic waterfront bar/restaurants in South Devon has been let by Property agents Bettesworths. The new lease on the Boathouse in Preston, Paignton was completed this week, in time for the 2024 Summer season.
The Boathouse is a very well-known and previously long-established bar/cafe/restaurant, which enjoys an enviable waterside location on Preston seafront with views over Torbay. The business had traded very successfully for over 20 years although closed in 2022.
The property comprises a spacious open plan bar/restaurant, an overspill restaurant/function room and a large outside commercial terrace with sea views and capacity for 100 plus covers. The property has good ‘back of house’ ancillary space with commercial kitchen and beer cellar.
Preston is a seaside conurbation of Paignton, located to the northern edge of the town between Paignton and Torquay. Preston has a popular beach and is a great destination for both local families and holiday makers, with its easy access and its safe swimming.
The beachfront is adorned with traditional beach huts during the summer months and has a wide level promenade to the front. The Boathouse is only a short stroll to Paignton Green, Paignton Pier and the town centre. Paignton Harbour is located just beyond this, again with easy access from Preston beach.
The new lessees are Graham and Shelley Fletcher from Brixham and their business partner Ali. They all have considerable experience in the hospitality trade and are looking forward to re-establishing the Boathouse as one of the Bay’s best waterfront destinations.
Graham and Shelley commented ‘We are extremely excited to be taking over the Boathouse as the new owners. We have a little bit of work to do to bring the building back to its former glory, but we can assure everyone that we will be working extremely hard to have the Boathouse ready for the summer season.
