Following up on the huge success of the free Tennis Festival held at the South Devon Tennis Centre earlier this year, the centre is now offering children the opportunity to try tennis over a short 6 week course for just £25 and they even get a free racket.
The scheme, Tennis for Kids, has been set up by the Lawn Tennis Association as a fun starter course for children aged between 5 and 10 who have never played tennis or have played very little before. The sessions are packed full of games and drills to get children active, it also gives parents the chance to join in too.
For those parents who would like to give it a try first, the centre is taking part in the Nature Valley Big Tennis weekend on 27th April, 18th May and 8th June, where children can try tennis for free and you can ask questions about the Tennis For Kids offer.
Paul Butcher the Director of tennis as the South Devon Tennis Centre in Ivybridge said: “We ran some Tennis for Kids sessions last year and they were hugely popular. They take place over 6 weeks on our indoor courts, they are run by one of our accredited LTA coaches and we have lots of fun.
“Tennis is a sport for life and these taster sessions give children the opportunity to ty it, at a great price and they also get a T Shirt with their name on.”
There a 3 new courses available at the South Devon Tennis Centre, start on Wednesday 8th May, Saturday 11th May and Monday 13th May. These can be booked through the LTA’s dedicated course booking website: CLUBSPARK: https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/TennisForKids/At/SouthDevonTennisCentre
