Exploring Torquay’s Gallows

During the 18th century over 200 crimes in England were punished by hanging. Each town had a place of execution. On the south coast, Torquay’s was at Gallows Gate.


Local historian Dr Kevin Dixon explores the lonely hill that was said to be haunted by the thousands of people that would have lost their lives over the centuries:
