Chief Executive of Torbay Council, Steve Parrock, said: “I am delighted that Nancy has accepted this role. She has over 25 years’ experience as a Children’s Services senior manager and consultant working across a number of local authorities and other organisations. She has an excellent track record of redesigning and launching new service provision and understands what works to sustain positive changes and improve outcomes for children.

“Nancy has worked for local authorities such as Blackpool, Coventry and Rotherham, supporting them on their improvement journey and was the interim Divisional Director in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets which recently achieved a good Ofsted rating.

Director of Children’s Services, Nancy Meehan, said: “Since I joined Torbay Council in October last year, I have really enjoyed worked working on different projects and initiatives. During this time, I have been able to grasp a good understanding of the challenges we face in Torbay and I am extremely passionate about making a difference.

“I look forward to continuing to work with the community, colleagues and partners in Torbay with the ambition to provide excellent and innovative services, which will enable our children and young people to be safe, happy, healthy and successful.”
