Road works planned for Torbay

Torbay Council would like to invite you to their next Facebook Live which is taking place on Thursday 2 December 2021 at 6 pm where information will be shared on two highways projects that will be starting at the beginning of January 2022.

Network Rail will be joining the Live to share information about the work they need to do to replace the bridge over the railway line on Torbay Road, next to Wheatridge Lane.

Information will also be shared on the full reconstruction of the road at Torwood Street that is now also needed. The road will be closed from the clock tower to the lights at the Parkhill Road and The Terrace junction.

Both roads will be closed to traffic until possibly the end of March and diversions will need to be in place for both schemes.

Councillor Mike Morey, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Environment and Culture, said: “There never is a good time for major roadworks let alone two major schemes at the same time and we apologise in advance for the disruption this will bring. We hope by giving you as much notice and information beforehand you will be able to take this into consideration as you travel around the Bay.

“Network Rail and our Highways team are both attending this Facebook Live and they will be giving presentations on why these schemes need to happen, what options have been looked at and what the diversions will be. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions. If you are unable to make the Live, it will be saved on our Facebook page and our website so you have an opportunity to watch it when best suits you.”

To make sure you are notified when the Facebook Live is starting ensure you are following Torbay Council on Facebook. If you don’t have access to Facebook you will be able to watch the Live on their website.
