Torbay foster families offered free match day tickets

Torbay foster carers can now apply for free Torquay United match day tickets. The first match in the series will be the visit of Dover Athletic on Saturday, 13th November with a 3pm kick off. The tickets are part of the 1000 free tickets allocated in the Woollens Terrace to NHS staff and local carers.

Cllr Cordelia Law, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Torbay Council, said; “We are very excited to be partnering with our local football club as we move further along our journey to become a “Child Friendly Torbay”. This is a fantastic offer for our foster families, and we hope our cared for children will make lots of happy match day memories.”

This November also brings the return of the popular Christmas Train of Lights event for Torbay foster families with Dartmouth Steam Railway. This magical event takes place this month on November 23rd. If you are a Torbay foster carer who would like to receive match day tickets or are interested in booking a space in the upcoming Train of Lights event, please get in touch with Torbay Children’s Services: Telephone: 01803 207845 Email: fostering@torbay.gov.uk

Torquay United AFC Directors George Edwards and Mel Hayman said: “We are very pleased to be able to extend this invitation to the amazing foster carers and families within Torbay. Torquay United plays a proud role at the centre of the local community. It is our belief that only by working together, can the very best be attained for our local community and its residents.”

Torbay Children’s Services are still currently looking for a wide range of new foster carers to care for local, vulnerable children who are unable to live with their birth families. Torbay foster carers are financially supported with an allowance to meet the needs of the foster child and receive support from a dedicated fostering Social Worker and an experienced foster carer as a mentor.

This is the perfect time to make a positive life change with child fostering if you are considering a new work/life balance. If you have flexible working hours, a spare room, and a kind heart, you could become a Torbay foster carer. If you would like to find out more please get in touch with Torbay Children’s Services. Telephone: 01803 207845 Email: fostering@torbay.gov.uk
