Torbay Lottery Small Grants Fund Launched

Torbay Lottery Small Grants Fund is now open for applications.

People who have supported the central Torbay Lottery have raised around £15,300 to date for 2018/2019 and the council is now inviting local charity, voluntary and community sector organisations to apply for a bid towards the costs of a specific activity or for the purchase of small items of equipment up to £2,000.

Torbay’s elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “The Torbay Lottery currently has 112 local good causes signed up who are benefiting from the initiative, with over £57,000 being raised for good causes since the Lottery was launched in 2017. We would now like to encourage them and other local good causes to apply for the Torbay Lottery Small Grant Fund for up to £2,000 one off funding. Last year 10 good causes shared £9,200 and we are giving away even more money this year!”

Applicants may apply between 14 January and 4 March 2018 and the panel will meet on 19 March 2019 to determine who will benefit from this grant, with successful applicants being notified within six weeks of the closing date for applications.

You do not need to be a current Torbay Lottery good cause to apply, but must meet the requirements set out in the policy. Here is an extract:

‘Funding will only be provided where it can be demonstrated that a defined impact will be made that support the ambitions and targeted actions of the Corporate Plan. Organisations should demonstrate an outcomes focus in applications for funding. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how the funding will achieve support for projects run by charities, voluntary groups and clubs and organisations.

Torbay Council residents will be the main recipients of the funding. The council will require that all funding awards support the ambitions and targeted actions of the Corporate Plan, namely:

Ambitions:
•a prosperous Torbay
•a healthy Torbay

Targeted actions:
•protecting all children and giving them the best start in life
•working towards a more prosperous Torbay
•promoting healthy lifestyles across Torbay
•ensuring Torbay remains an attractive and safe place to live and visit
•protecting and supporting vulnerable adults’
