Torbay Love Your High Street week returns in 2017

Following two successful Love your High Street Torbay weeks in July and November 2016, the next week will be in June 2017.

Love your High Street week is a campaign which encourages local people to shop more frequently in independent shops around the Bay and helps spread the message about why spending locally is so important.

Richard Haddock, Executive Lead for Business, said: “Local support of this campaign has helped make it a great success, and due to this we will be running it again in 2017. I strongly encourage local people to spend in Torbay using many of the fantastic, independent retailers. This in return will provide a much needed boost to the local economy which will aid our ongoing efforts for high street regeneration in Torbay.”

The campaign is being delivered by TDA as part of their high street regeneration projects.

Carl Wyard, Economy and Enterprise Manager for TDA, said: “It is great news that we are able to continue with this project in 2017. The campaign reached over 115 retailers last year, who received marketing packs and support to promote their business and increase footfall in the town centres. We will look to drive the campaign forward, reviewing the successes of last year and meeting the needs of local independent businesses.”

Lyn Grant of Cloudberry Lily, said: “This kind of initiative is a fantastic idea for the independent businesses of Torbay High Streets. It’s simple to do and really captures the spirit of why people should shop locally. There are some fantastic independent businesses across Torbay and I hope they all get involved.”

Donna Ryan of Simply the Bike, said: “As an independent retailer, we get to build up a good relationship with our customers and are able to help and advise them. Being here almost for nine years, we now have many regular customers and we really appreciated their loyalty. It is good to know that so many people are supporting local businesses and helping to save our High Streets.”

The Love your High Street week is taking place from 12 June – 18 June across Torbay and is free of charge to all independent retailers wishing to get involved. Marketing packs and resources will be available for free for high street businesses to help celebrate the campaign and will be delivered to the registered businesses.

Information about how to register to be a part of Love your High Street will be available in the Spring. For an insight into previous campaigns visit www.loveyourhighsttorbay.com and follow us on Twitter and facebook @loveyourhighsttorbay

In the run up to the campaign TDA will be running monthly features on local independent retailers. If you would like to be one of the featured retailers contact gemma.fitzsimmons@tedcltd.com
