A woman from Torquay has been jailed following offences committed on an aircraft last year.
Sheila Thompson, 53 of Hele Road was sentenced to 12 months prison at Bristol Crown Court yesterday after admitting to being drunk on an aircraft and common assault.
The incident happened shortly after take off on Sunday 30th September on a Ryanair flight from Bristol to Alicante. The plane had to return to Bristol Airport after Thomson started to behave in a disruptive manner. She was arrested on landing.
Police airport commander Insp Barney Gardom said: “We will not tolerate this sort of abusive behaviour and work with the airport to take robust action against disruptive passengers.
“We will, where possible take action to put the offenders before the courts,”
