The International Agatha Christie Festival starts today, with Torre Abbey set host multiple events during the 10-day celebration of Agatha’s life and achievements.
The Agatha Christie Festival which runs from Friday 8 to Sunday 17 September starts with a fun five-day fringe festival, followed by a four-day literary festival.
Torre Abbey will host inspiring discussions, presentations, film screenings, and informative talks from a range of journalists, authors, writers, and crime experts, including Robert Thorogood, author, and creator of the hit mystery television series ‘Death in Paradise’ and ‘Beyond Paradise’.
The sold out ‘A Garden Party to Die For’ taking place in the stunning walled gardens at Torre Abbey, will see Agatha fans meet the Abbey’s Head Gardener to learn about Agatha Christie’s potent and poisonous plants and her time as a pharmacist in Torquay. Those who missed out on tickets, can still visit the Abbey during the festival and take a self-guided tour of the gardens to look at the range of beautiful but sinister plants on show.
The annual Agatha Christie Festival, held on the English Riviera every September celebrates the achievements of Torquay’s most famous daughter.
This year’s programme includes author talks, literary events, theatre, film, live music, comedy, a boat party, guided walks treasure hunts, family events at a range of venues across Torbay, as well as the 70th anniversary touring production of The Mousetrap coming to the Princess Theatre.
