Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of three care homes in South Devon; Beacon House in Dartmouth, and Windward House and Willow House in South Brent.
Combined, they are registered for 106 service users and comprise 101 bedrooms, 90 of which have en suite facilities. Each home is ‘Good’ rated with registered managers in place, and have been extended and improved over the years to provide high-quality care to their residents.
Previously owned by Thurlestone Court Ltd, which is run by husband-and-wife Brigitte and Neil Harvey, the homes were brought to market to allow the pair to retire. Following a confidential sales process with Simon Harvey at Christie & Co, they have been purchased by Centrum Care Home Group Limited which owns two homes in Teignmouth – Croft Lodge and The White House – as well as ‘Outstanding’ rated, Bluebird Care Agency, in Berkshire.
Brigitte and Neil Harvey, previous owners, comment, “We have been providing residential care services since 1999, and have seen huge changes across our sector during the last 24 years. We have been lucky enough to be able to nurture and grow our business during a simpler time where ‘to care’ was a vocation for many and where the needs of residents were more of a personal and social nature. Today’s sector looks very different, where highly trained staff are needed to care for people with very complex needs. In the twenty-first century, residential care providers are expected to operate their services at a much higher corporate level and work solidly in partnership with Health and Social Care services. We are proud of the work we have done to ensure that our homes are future-proof, thus securing the future for our staff and residents, and we are confident that Tushar and Mehul have the right approach, understanding, and vision to ensure their continued success. We wish them well.”
Tushar Shah and Mehul Shah, Directors at Centrum Care Home Group Limited, comment, “We are really pleased to acquire the three homes from Brigitte and Neil. They are lovely and already have a positive reputation. We are looking forward to working with the management team to build on the strong foundations laid by Neil and Brigitte.”
Simon Harvey, Senior Director in Christie & Co’s South West Healthcare team, who handled the transaction, comments, “I was delighted to have, once again, worked with Tushar and Mehul and am pleased to have assisted their continued growth and, of course, wish them well for the future with these homes and the Group as a whole. I am equally delighted to have enabled Brigitte and Neil to retire from the care sector after so many years of dedication and committed ownership to these homes. I hope they can now enjoy a well-earned retirement.
“The sale of these homes demonstrates the continued appetite that exists for a range of care homes in Devon and the wider South West, where we see strong appetite from a range of buyers including local operators, such was the case with this transaction and with other recently agreed sales and activity in the market. We anticipate this to continue for the remainder of this year and beyond.”
The three homes were sold for an undisclosed price.
