Local homebuilder Barratt Homes Exeter has launched a series of public art workshops taking place from Monday 21st to Friday 25th August at the thriving new Victoria Heights development in Alphington, Devon.
In collaboration with the Devon-based artist and sculptor James Bond, residents and the local community will have the opportunity to work with a variety of hand tools with oak, clay and drawing to create communal artworks to be displayed around the development.
The unique pieces will be inspired by the theme of the heart and it is a chance for the community and their families to share what the heart means to them personally. This will be a recorded memory embodied in the wood which will become post signage cappings to be placed around the development creating a public art trail.
Nicki Reid, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter said: “We believe that the heart represents the soul of our community and we are already seeing Victoria Heights become a thriving and vibrant new community. We have had residents move into over a 100 new homes at the development and this is a fantastic opportunity for them and their families to leave their mark.
“This is a great opportunity for the community to meet their neighbours and share stories on what the heart means to them. We are delighted to be partnering with the acclaimed artist and sculptor James Bond who will bring this the communities creativity to life.”
Workshops will take place from 11am-4pm from Monday 21st to Friday 25th August, on arrival please visit the sales office where you will be directed to the valley grassland area of the development where James and his team are setup.
