Warrens Bakery “The world’s oldest pasty maker” is the new face on Fleet Street, Torquay, having completed the acquisition of their latest store in under 10 working days to be ready for the summer season.
This is the second Warrens to open in Torquay, creating 11 jobs between the original store on Union Street, and the new store at 42 Fleet St, for local people in the area. Opening day on Saturday 23rd July was a great success welcoming hundreds of customers and baking off over 200 pasties on the day, the majority of which were Warrens Bakery’s iconic traditional Cornish steak pasty.
Since opening, the town has welcomed the new store with open arms. It seems residents, shoppers and visitors haven’t been able to get enough of Warrens’ baked goods – with traditional Cornish pasties, large sausage rolls, giant meringues and their speciality doughnuts being the best sellers.
The store can cater for all tastes and diets throughout the day – offering tasty breakfast goods, a delicious range of cakes, freshly made sandwiches and hot and cold drinks, as well as their renowned hot savoury options. Vegetarian and vegan diets are catered for in both the savoury and sweet areas, and there are some great purse-friendly deals to help feed the whole family. With its comfortable seating area, Warrens is the perfect pitstop for shoppers, providing somewhere to take a break, sit down and relax, and also offers a takeaway service.
Waycotts Chartered Surveyors of Torquay, acting on behalf of the Landlords, a private investment fund agreed a letting of this prime shop unit on a new lease within 4 weeks of being vacated by the former tenants.
Nick Wheeldon MRICS Director at Waycotts comments “It is so good to see Warrens expanding after what has been such a difficult period for the High Street and we are all pleased that Torquay has received such a vote of confidence from their management board with the opening of a second unit.”
Alex Martin, Operations Director at Warrens Bakery added: “We’re delighted to have opened our latest store in Torquay alongside our Union Street branch. It’s great to be able to add another store to our portfolio in Devon, and we’re pleased the new bakery has already been so warmly received by the town. Our aim as a team is to be the bakery of choice in the local Torquay community.”
Established in 1860, Warrens Bakery is proud to be the oldest pasty maker in the world whilst fusing new concepts & creative products together with their traditional bakery items. The warm, friendly environment aims to be a local bakery that customers can trust in for their lunchtime favourites each week.
