Teignmouth Primary School says it believes in being at the heart of its community and having community at its heart. This has certainly been the case in their special community event of ‘We Are Teignmouth’ week. Over 250 pupils have made a difference to their local area by taking part in a variety of community projects across their town.
“It’s wonderful to see the pride our pupils take in helping others and looking after their local area,” says headteacher, Luke Marchant. “Of course, they’ve all made us incredibly proud with the commitment and compassion they’ve shown towards others throughout this week and beyond!”
Throughout ‘We Are Teignmouth’ week, all classes have had a different local project.
Year 5 and 6 pupils read at a residential home

Community all year round
The school continues to provide opportunities for children to make a difference, and the pupils delight in helping others. Whether creating remembrance sculptures on the D-Day anniversary at Teignmouth Cemetery, writing Christmas cards for patients and raising money for Exeter Leukaemia Fund, or even planting flowers to brighten historic landmarks such as Bitton House, one thing is clear. The pupils of Teignmouth Primary School truly believe in being the heart of their community.
