West Country housebuilder Devonshire Homes has helped fundraise thousands of pounds for the South West Blood Bikes.
Supporting the organisation since June 2022, Devonshire Homes has raised a total of £8,091.50 through various fundraising activities. The funds will help the South West Blood Bikes continue to provide an ‘out of hours’ service to NHS partners, transporting essential urgent supplies such as whole blood, pathology samples, medication, medical equipment, medical notes and donor breast milk to NHS hospitals and hospices throughout Devon.
South West Blood Bikes charity is formed from teams of volunteers who rely on donations alone to operate their life-saving service.
Devonshire Homes has donated £25 to South West Blood Bikes, and another £25 to its equivalent organisation in Cornwall, for every open-market house sold from June 2022 to April 2024. In addition, Devonshire Homes hosted a charity Golf Day last year which raised £5,000 for both Blood Bikes charities through entry fees, through entry fees, an auction and raffle.
Chair and Trustee of South West Blood Bikes Mark Bentley, commented: “My sincerest thanks go to all at Devonshire Homes for their incredible support. The monies donated have made a real difference to what we have been able to achieve as a charity. We are still growing in size at a significant rate and would not have been able to take on some of the extra work that we have over the last few months without this support.
To date, our volunteers have been called out more than 7,500 times, and moved over 40,000 individual items, saving the NHS close to £400,000. As a charity we rely entirely on donations, so support from companies like Devonshire Homes is vital in order for us to save lives and improve patient outcomes”.
Jane Pearce, Sales and Marketing Director at Devonshire Homes, commented: “We are delighted that we’ve raised over £8,000 for the South West Blood Bikes. The charity is crucial in its role supporting the NHS, which as we all know is under immense pressure. It gives us great pleasure, as a business firmly rooted in the Westcountry to be able to support South West Blood Bikes in really making a difference, and saving lives in our communities”.
