Winter Wonders starts at magical Cockington Court

Come and be part of a magical Winter Wonders at Cockington Court. The programme brings together an illuminated UV art installation, local craft businesses and winter shopping in the galleries and studios.

The Moths to a Flame art installation launches on Saturday 5 December, on Small Business Saturday. It brings together many of the qualities that Cockington Court, as a Centre of Creativity, is proud of – art, crafts and its makers.

To encourage visitors there is also a parking promotion. Visit Cockington Court at the weekend on 5/6 December and 12/13 December and you can park all day for £1.

Marissa Wakefield, Centre Director of Cockington Court, said: “The spirit at Cockington around Christmas is always fantastic and we wanted to extend this right across December and January. Following the challenging year we have had, this brings back some joy and excitement for us all.

“At this crucial time, it is more important than ever that we do what we can to support our makers and local businesses. We have over 25 high-quality, small businesses on the site, which we selected as the best of their kind in the area.

“On Saturday 5 December, we turn on our beautiful UV light Court Moths commission at the stable yard studio entrance, created by Arts and Energy artists. Please do join us from 4-5pm to see it and enjoy music performed by Jane Anderson-Brown. The makers’ studios will open until 5pm so you can enjoy a bit of shopping too. You are welcome to bring your children with glow sticks, and your dogs with flashing collars, for a little bit of much-needed fun too!

“The parking offer gives all our visitors the chance to fully explore our site; shop from our fantastic makers’ studios, visit our exhibitions and galleries, which are brimming with stunning handmade gifts, and enjoy festive food in the Seven Dials Cafe.”

The galleries in the Manor House at Cockington Court are now open 7 days a week from 10-5pm up until Thursday 24 December. You will find jewellery, leather bags, mosaic mirrors, hand-blown glass, celebration cakes, fine sparkling cider and much more.
