Woman remains in custody after body found in Paignton

A 40-year-old local woman remains in police custody after a body was found at a property in Paignton yesterday.

Police were called to Midvale Road in Paignton yesterday afternoon following concern for the welfare of an occupant at a property.

A man in his 70s was found deceased. Enquires remain ongoing to locate his next of kin.

Detective Chief Inspector Roy Linden, Deputy Head of Major Crime said: “We are continuing to investigate a suspicious death in Paignton after a man in his 70s was located deceased in a property in Midvale Road on Wednesday afternoon.

“A 40-year-old woman remains in police custody and we are not currently seeking anyone else in connection to this incident.”

Sector Inspector Howard Brugge, said: “I am aware of comments of concern within the local community and I would like to reassure the public that this is currently being treated as an isolated incident.

“The investigation is being led by the Major Crime investigation Team, who are supported by specialist officers and the local policing team. These resources remain at the scene at this time, and will continue to be visible over the coming days. Neighbourhood officers will be out on foot patrol to provide reassurance and to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

“We are now appealing for anyone with any information that may be relevant to this investigation, to come forward and contact police.”

Police officers remained at the scene with a cordon in place today.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 348 of Wednesday 27 February.
