A 90 year old man who was attacked in Torquay town centre at the weekend has received well wishes from around the world after his story was posted on Spotted Torquay.

Messages were posted from around the UK, Europe and as far away as Australia.

The man, now known as ‘Notorious Ron’ (Which he named himself after seeing the post on the popular Facebook page) was hit in the face after accidentally bumping into someone with his mobility scooter.

The incident happened near Argos in Torquay just after Midday on Saturday 16th April.

Ron suffer from a bruised leg and 2 black eyes in the incident. Ron was taken to hospital and released the same afternoon.

Ron’s family have thanked members of the public who stepped in to help. One couple, who were on holiday are believed to have received a parking ticket after stopping to help.

One man was arrested at the scene by police.

We were happy to hear today that Ron returned to the town centre this morning, determined to remain independent.

Mollie Hansford from Dots Pantry said on Spotted Torquay:
“He’s made it in to Dots Pantry and I have just served him a complimentary cup of tea. Not ten minutes later a young lady walked in and payed for his next cup of tea after hearing he is a regular here! The amount of good that has come out of the awful incident is admiring. Ron is such a lovely, inspiring man.”
