Hundreds of people from across South Devon are preparing to get covered in paint in support of Rowcroft Hospice on Saturday 17th September.
Rowcroft’s hugely popular Colour Rush Paignton will see almost 1000 people get covered, caked and showered in multi-coloured powder paint as they complete a 5k course along Preston and Paignton Beaches.
The flagship event is one of the biggest in Rowcroft’s fundraising calendar and the hospice hopes it will generate a significant income to support its current financial situation.
Daniel Robson, Rowcroft’s Event Manager, explained: “We are very excited to turn Paignton Beach rainbow coloured next Saturday.
“The last few months have been incredibly difficult for Rowcroft so we are looking forward to having a day to laugh, celebrate and see local families and groups of friends come together for the brightest, craziest 5k in South Devon.
“We’d like to urge all those taking part in The Colour Rush to raise as much in sponsorship as possible. This year, more than ever, we are so grateful for every pound you can raise.”
A full day of fun is planned for The Colour Rush Paignton, which will kick off on Paignton Green from 10.30am.
Daniel said: “The Breeze will be playing their summer time hits from 10.30am and there will be plenty of fun for the whole family in our Event Village, with a climbing wall and a bar provided by Bays Brewery.
“The 5k itself takes place at 12.30pm and will be followed by our legendary mass paint throw and an exclusive performance from local band, Harbour.
“All of the entertainment and refreshments that are available on the day will help to raise vital income for Rowcroft, helping to support thousands of people living with life-limiting illnesses in South Devon.”
Online registration for the event is now closed, but the hospice has announced it will be accepting on the day registrations for anyone who has a last minute desire to get caked in paint for their local hospice.
Daniel added: “If anyone is still tempted to come along and tackle the 5k route, we would love to see you there!”
Earlier this year Rowcroft announced it had lowered its age restrictions for The Colour Rush, so the event is now open to all aged over eight-years-old.
Daniel added: “We’re really excited about being able to make some very memorable moments happen for local children and also introduce them to Rowcroft and what a place of life, colour and amazing moments it is.”
Children under 16-years-old can sign up for £25 on-the-day and anyone over 16-years-old can sign up for £30. For more information about The Colour Rush Paignton visit www.thecolourrush.co.uk.
