Police appeal for information following Dartmoor assault

Police have appealed for witnesses following an assault on Dartmoor on Sunday 11th September.

The incident happed at Saddle Tor car park at 7pm. A 58 year old kingsbridge man  who was taking photographs was approached by a man unknown to him who asked for a cigarette lighter. Two other men joined the first man and all three proceeded to assault the victim by punching and kicking him.

A woman nearby was said to have encouraged the assault. The three men and the woman got into a vehicle, in which there was another man, and left the area at speed.

The first man is described as white, in his early twenties, 6′ tall with a Celtic design tattooed on his neck. The other two males involved in the assault were shorter, and all three spoke with Westcountry accents and all had beards.

The woman is described as in her late teens to early twenties, 5’5″ tall of stocky build with blonde / light brown hair scraped back. The vehicle is an older type with wide wheels, similar to a Ford Fiesta.

During the incident a Canon 5D digital SLR stills camera was stolen.
