This Saturday saw the second week of free festive events in Torquay town centre, part of the Christmas by the Sea project run by Torbay Council. This week nearly two hundred people, young and old, stepped in from the biting cold to join in with a variety of craft activities in the pop up studio spaces across the town centre.
Some beautiful festive items were created, artwork made in felt, placemats for the Christmas table and some stunning origami decorations were produced. Alongside this, at Fleet Walk, ran a shadow puppet workshop where children made shadow puppet characters to star in their own short film.
The free festive activities will be continuing for the next two Saturdays. Saturday 10th December, will see a Christmas themed beach party come to Lower Union Street. Brought to you in association with Sound Communities, shoppers can record their favourite Christmas memories, vote for their favourite Christmas songs and dance away to some festive hits at our silent discos happening throughout the day!
On Saturday 17th December, choirs from across south Devon will be performing around the town centre, for a chance to be crowned ‘South Devon Christmas Choir 2016’.
These festive events have been commissioned by Torbay Council, funded by the Coastal Communities Fund and are kindly sponsored by Ocean BMW.
