Local homebuilder with developments across Devon, Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, donated over £56,000 and volunteered a total of 61 days to charities in the South West last year.
Each year, Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter provides funding for charities and organisations across the region as part of its commitment to creating positive legacies in the communities where it builds.
Balloons received financial help after donations dried up during the cost-of-living crisis and the demand for their services increased. Balloons has a dedicated network of volunteers and trained staff who provide over 150 children and young people with one-to-one grief support sessions for pre- and post-bereavement. They also reach many more through their telephone support to parents, carers and schools, sending care packages and delivering training to professionals.
Nicola Clarke, Chief Executive Officer at Balloons, said: “We are a small charity and demand for our service is high. Funding is critical to enable us to continue to support children and families in the area and we are grateful for the recent donation from Barratt David Wilson Homes. The money has been put towards running and resourcing one-to-one sessions and covering expenses for our volunteers to travel to sessions. We are always looking for more supporters and volunteers to train to become grief support workers and are touched by the goodwill of our donors.”
Nicki Reid, Sales Director for Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, said: “We believe in the power of community and the transformative effect that collective efforts can have on creating a better and more inclusive society. We’re happy to have helped so many charities over the past year and our charity drive will continue throughout 2024, along with our dedication to have a positive impact on the lives of those in need.”
Every month, Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter donates £1,500 to a local organisation that works to improve the quality of life for those living in their area.
