Fire crews tackled the blaze at the property which suffered from significant damaged.

The occupants of the home were out at the time. Nobody was injured as a result of the incident, but a number of nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything in connection with the incident to come forward.

Detective Constable Tim Platt said: “This fire had catastrophic potential to cause loss of life and it is fortunate that no-one was seriously injured or killed.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting crime reference CR/023359/22.
