Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian on Queensway at around 3.35pm.

The collision, which happened near the Ben Jonson Close junction, involved a Volkwagon Bora and a child.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene. The air ambulance also landed at Our Lady of the Angels school.

The 11-year-old child sustained significant head and pelvic injuries and was initially taken to Torbay Hospital and was later transferred to Bristol Children’s Hospital for specialist treatment.

Queensway was closed for seven hours while police investigated the circumstances of the collision.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, has any information or dashcam footage that could help with their enquiries, to please email 101@dc.police.uk or call 101, quoting 0530 of 25/11/21.
