Major incident declared after suspect WW2 device found in Exeter

Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was assaulted with an axe in Plymouth last week.

Police were called to reports of a serious assault in Pike Road, Plymouth, at around 4.40pm on Friday 12 March.

The victim sustained serious head injuries, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. It appears the men are known to each other.

A 46-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been released on police bail until 9 April while enquiries continue.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to call police on 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting crime reference CR/019392/21.
