Appeal for witnesses following fatal M5 collision

Trains delayed due to incident at Torre train station

Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal collision on the M5 in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 1 February.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a HGV and pedestrian on the northbound carriageway, between junctions 28 and 29, at around 4.05am.

The pedestrian, a local 33-year-old man,was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by family liaison.

The motorway was closed between junction 28 and 29 for several hours whilst investigations took place. The HGV driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with their investigation

Any witnesses, or drivers with relevant dashcam footage, are being asked to call police on 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting log 104 of 1 February 2022.
