Appeal for witnesses following serious collision on A38

Police have appealed for witnesses following a fatal collision on the M5 last night, Monday, 9 August.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision between a silver Saab 93 and a Scania HGV on the South bound carriageway near Junction 27 at around 10.40pm.

The male driver of the Saab suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The road was closed whilst investigation work took place. It was closed for over 7 hours, followed by lane closures, fully reopening earlier this morning.

Any witnesses who were in the area at the time to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by telephone on 101, quoting log 0975 of 09/08/21.
