Appeal for witnesses following serious assault in Plymouth

Road closed due to police incident in Torquay

Police have appealed for witnesses following a serious assault in Plymouth in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 5 January.

Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing incident in the Hawkinge Gardens area of Ernesettle at around 3.30am.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall police said: “The victim, a man in his 30s, received a number of knife wounds. He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

“A 30-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assault GBH. He remains in police custody.

“The suspect and the victim are believed to be known to each other.

“Police are investigating and appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them. They would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage or CCTV which may assist with enquiries”
