Police have appealed for witnesses following a serious collision in Exeter yesterday morning, Thursday 22 April.
Emergency services were called to reports of a three vehicle collision on Topsham Road at around 11am.
Police, ambulance crews and the fire service attended the scene.
The incident occurred at the junction to Barrack Road and involved a Volvo HGV, a Neco Alex-One moped and a Skoda Yeti.
The rider of the moped, a 66-year-old man, was taken to Derriford Hospital with extensive injuries including broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
Topsham Road, at Barrack Road, has been closed in both directions while officers conduct an examination of the scene. Witnesses of the incident are asked to contact police on 101 or via email at 101@dc.police.uk and quote log number 278, 22/4/21.
