Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 2.50am. Police state that it appears a car hit a parked lorry, left the road and went into a hedge. The collision happened Exeter-bound, just before the Drumbridges exit.

The driver, a male in his late 20s, was found unconscious. A doctor shortly after declared the driver deceased. His next of kin have not yet been informed.

Police set up an Exeter-bound road closure from Goodstone junction and put diversions in place. The road has now partially reopened.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident. Please call 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk quoting log 82 of 12 May 2017.
