Update: The family of the driver, a 29 year old man from the Gloucestershire area have been made aware. Formal identification has not yet been carried out.
Police have appealed for witnesses following a fatal accident on the A38 this morning, 12th May.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 2.50am. Police state that it appears a car hit a parked lorry, left the road and went into a hedge. The collision happened Exeter-bound, just before the Drumbridges exit.
The driver, a male in his late 20s, was found unconscious. A doctor shortly after declared the driver deceased. His next of kin have not yet been informed.
Police set up an Exeter-bound road closure from Goodstone junction and put diversions in place. The road has now partially reopened.
