Police remain at the scene of an incident at Castle Road in Torquay.

The incident is ongoing. Emergency services were first alerted at around 8pm last night, Friday 20 January to reports of concerns for the welfare of an individual at a property on the road.

A cordon is in place, along with road closures with specialist officers talking with the individual.

Armed police and ambulance crews are also on scene.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We have managed to safely remove other residents of the multi-occupancy property linked to this incident.

“It is the goal of the officers at the scene to bring this matter to a safe resolution whilst we provide the upmost care to the individual, therefore we will continue to keep the area secure and engage with the individual as we do all we can to get him the help that they need.

“We ask that the public give officers the space they need to work and we appreciate your support on this matter.”

Updates as more information becomes available.
