Homebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter has led asuccessful litter pick effort in Devon as part of the Big Barratt Cleanup. The event was part of Barratt Developments’ first-ever large-scale environmental cleanup, in collaboration with charity CleanupUK.
The Big Barratt Cleanup, a nationwide initiative, aims to foster cleaner, safer, and more connected communities by addressing litter problems near the homebuilder’s developments across the UK. Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, along with other divisions nationwide, participated in this effort to improve their local surroundings.
On 19 April, volunteers from Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter gathered at all the homebuilder’s developments throughout the county and a nearby country park to conduct litter picks. The event saw participation from individuals across all departments, including board members, demonstrating a collective commitment to environmental stewardship.
During the cleanup, volunteers collected over 70 bags of rubbish,a TV and a bike across the sites, and 10 dumpy bags of recyclable tree guards from the country park.
Andrew Spicer, Managing Director of Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, said, “We’re proud of the impact our team has made across all our housing developments during the Big Barratt Cleanup. Cleaner communities benefit everyone – not just the people who live on Barratt and David Wilson developments, but nature and wildlife too.”
CleanupUK is a UK-wide charity which supports communities to come together and form locally-led litter picking initiatives. Chief executive George Monck added, “We have been absolutely blown away by the incredible participation in the Big Barratt Cleanup. With all 33 Barratt divisions and 47 teams signing up, Barratt Developments PLC’s employees have made a significant impact, creating cleaner, safer, and healthier spaces in their local communities across the UK, from Aberdeen to Exeter – we could not be more delighted.”
The success of the Big Barratt Cleanup reflects the dedication of Barratt Developments and its employees to making a positive difference in the communities in which they build homes.
