TDA announces the first Torbay Apprenticeships Fair, which will take place on Wednesday 10 July 2019, 2pm-7pm at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay.

Building on the ambitions of the National Pilot ‘Opportunities Through Apprenticeships’, the free event will give local employers the opportunity to fill live Apprenticeship vacancies.

It will also help learners match their skills and interests with local businesses to kick start their careers, to earn whilst they learn and increase the number and value of Apprenticeships starts in Torbay.

Rebecca Davies, TDA Senior Economic Development Officer, said: “This is a really exciting event and the first for Torbay. We welcome all businesses across all sectors in Torbay, and the travel to work area, who have live Apprenticeship vacancies. We particularly welcome STEM employers, as well as construction, manufacturing and tourism, all of strategic growth importance to Torbay.”

The free event is for school and college learners and parents, as well as those people looking to upskill themselves or their employees. There will be over 20 employers across all sectors with over 100 live Apprenticeship vacancies on offer. There will be a range of businesses and training providers available to talk to about Apprenticeship opportunities and space for employers to also host informal interviews.

Additional support for learners will be available on the day including CV and interview preparation, careers advice, coaching, a Pop Up Job Shop and a parent’s area providing information and refreshments. The Heart of the South West Careers Hub will also be attending providing information, advice and guidance to schools on implementing their Careers Strategy.

Emily Tucker, Head of Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement at South Devon College, said: “The Apprenticeships Fair builds on ten targeted events that reached over 1,000 people earlier in the year as part of National Apprenticeship Week. We are delighted to be supporting this new initiative working in partnership for Torbay.”

The Torbay Apprenticeships Fair is being delivered in partnership for Torbay by TDA with Devon & Cornwall Training Provider Network, Heart of the South West LEP Careers Hub, South Devon College, Torbay Business Forum and Serco.

There is no need to book to attend the event, just drop in.
