The body of a man found in the Watcombe area of Torquay yesterday, Tuesday 22nd May is not being treated as suspicious say police.
Emergency services were called to Watcombe Beach at around 10:30am to reports of a body being discovered in the area.
Police, coastguard, Search and rescue teams and the ambulance service attended the incident.
Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Ashburton said on Facebook: “The team were called out by Devon and Cornwall Police to assist in an on-going search for a missing male in the Watcome area. This multi-agency search involved the National Police Helicopter Service, RNLITorbay, Torbay Coastguard, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and Devon & Cornwall Police.”
“At 1030 a body was located by the coastguard. Our volunteers worked with the coastguard to bring the body to a road head.
“Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the individual at this sad and difficult time,”
The family of David Gerry, a 43-year-old man who was missing from Torbay have been informed of this development.
Devon and Cornwall Police state: “This death is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file is to be prepared for the coroner,”
