Investigation launched after woman's body found in Torquay

Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body at a property in Torquay at the weekend.

Police were notified just after 9.30am on Saturday 3 June after the body of a woman in her 50s was found at an address on Scarborough Road.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Identification has now been carried out and next of kin have been informed.

Officers from the Major Crime Investigation Team are currently treating this death as unexplained and are appealing for witnesses.

Police have asked for anyone who was in the area and saw anything that could help with their enquiries, to contact them.
