Body of missing Brixham fisherman found

Thousands raised to support families of missing fishermen

The body of one of the missing fisherman from the fishing vessel ‘Joanna C’ has been recovered by divers off the East Sussex coast.

Police have confirmed today that the body was recovered by divers last night and has been identified as Adam Harper, 26 from Brixham.

The ‘Joanna C’ sank off Newhaven in Sussex on Saturday morning, 21st November.

Three men were onboard at the time, a second man, Robert Morley, 38, is still missing.

Skipper Dave Bickerstaff, 34, was found clinging to a lifebuoy by the RNLI and transferred to hospital.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Following the tragic incident on 21 November in which the fishing boat Joanna C capsized south of Newhaven, the body of one of the two missing fishermen was recovered by divers from the wreck last night, Monday 23 November.

“He has been identified as Adam Harper, 26, from Brixham, Devon, and his next of kin have been notified.

“Robert Morley, 38, from Pembrokeshire, is still missing.

“Our thoughts are with their families at this time.”
